Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I pay for my larger purchases in cash?
Verkkokauppa.com Plc is obliged to monitor cash payments when the payment(s) exceed 10,000 euros. Payments can be made as a single transaction or as recurring transactions within 12 months. The monitoring obligation arises from the Act on Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing. We want to do everything we can to actively prevent money laundering and the grey economy in Finland.
Why is the cash payment limit at Verkkokauppa.com 200 €?
The use of cash in payment situations has decreased, and in our stores, only about 10% of purchases over 200 euros are paid in cash. With this payment limit, we can continue to serve the vast majority of customers paying by cash.
Why is it possible to pay for larger purchases in cash at other retailers in the industry?
Legislation related to cash handling has tightened significantly in recent years. We interpret the legislation carefully to minimise the risks associated with money laundering and the grey economy. Other operators and stores make their own decisions.
Can I pay for larger purchases in cash if I pay in 200 euro instalments?
Unfortunately, this is not possible, as our cash payment limit is 200 € per transaction.
(A transaction means a single visit, i.e. when a customer arrives at the store, makes their possible purchases, and leaves the store.)
Can I pay part of the order in cash and the rest by debit card?
Yes. In this case, the cash amount limit is still 200 euros and you can pay the rest, for example, by debit card, gift card, or online.
What other payment methods do I have available?
You can pay for your purchases in the store with the most common payment cards, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. You can also conveniently pay your purchases via online banking. If you meet the credit granting criteria, have identification with you, and can authenticate yourself via online banking, we can assist you in applying for an invoice (Walley) or open a Tili service for payment.
Do you accept banknotes larger than 200 euros?
Yes, we have no restrictions regarding banknotes.
