Depending on the device, the device identification information can be found in several places. The model number, product number and serial number are usually found on the product packaging, as well as printed or labelled on the back of the device. On smart devices, they are usually also visible in the device settings.
Common labelling methods are:
- Serial Number - (S), SN, S/N, Serial No.
- Product Number - (P), PN, P/N, Product No.
- Model Number - Model No.
IMEI Code
Mobile devices also have a device-specific and unique 15-digit IMEI code. The device can be identified based on this code, and operators can, for example, block the use of the device using the code in cases of theft. It is therefore advisable to note down the IMEI code of a new device.
If the device has multiple SIM card slots, it will also have multiple IMEI codes. If the IMEI code is needed for device identification, for example in service and exchange cases or for receipt retrieval, always provide the IMEI1 code as a priority.
The code can be found in many places:
- From the product packaging - The IMEI code can be found, for example, on the side of the package.
- Using the phone app - In call mode, when you dial the code *#06#, the device's IMEI code and serial number will appear.
- In the device settings - Different manufacturers and operating system versions label the menus differently, but generally the path is the same.
- Android - Settings > System/General/About phone
- iOS - Settings > General > About
- On the device itself
- If the device’s battery is removable, the code may be printed under the battery.
- If the IMEI code is not found in the previous locations, it may be engraved on the SIM card tray.
